Hope Valley Sno-Park

Car

Camp Review:

  • My review would be the same as when I stayed here a few months ago

  • Frogs were croaking all night long, so I was glad I had my ear plugs

  • Parking lot was much fuller than in winter, less than peak summer

  • I had Full bars of LTE signal on Verizon

What I Learned:

  • The camper took a lot of force to popup (especially the front). Last time this happened, I thought the struts were frozen due to the weather. Given that it was above freezing (albeit by a few degrees) when I tried to open it, I think maybe the struts are busted? Maybe they need some maintenance?

  • I felt really bad for other campers when I started the car at 5:10am and had to idle it to get the windshield unfrozen enough to start driving. When I had the smallest view outside, I moved the car gingerly to the front of the parking lot where I hoped to be less annoying to others.

  • I slept with my bike in the car, and there was more than enough space for me to move around in the morning.

What Happened?

I needed a place to sleep on a Friday night close to South Lake Tahoe, so it was back to Hope Valley Sno-Park. I arrived around 10pm and immediately got to setting up the camper. I brushed my teeth, and went to sleep.

I woke up at 4:45am, and took a little while to put on my clothes. Once it was on, I moved much more quickly to clean up the camper and drop it down. I started the car and drove out of there. I really hope I didn’t wake anyone up.
