Coyote Creek Trail
Trail Review
I have ridden this stretch of trail before and it was as nice as I had remembered. There is a small stretch where the highway noise is distracting, but other than that, it has more than enough nature for us.
What I Learned
Kaylee has grown up a lot and her bike is much too small for her. Even with that though, she has little issue biking 10 miles.
I hadn’t known that there was a trail closure (due to flooding) about 5 miles south of the parking lot. It just so happened to be the perfect halfway point though. Still, I should’ve known given previous experience with this trail in the spring—flooding is pretty common here.
At around the 3-mile mark, we passed by some wild hogs (probably a mom and some babes) who were foraging for food. My initial thought was worry, but they were accustomed to people and did not charge (or even acknowledge) us as we calmly biked past.
Friends
We rode this trail with the Absher family. As usual, the ride with them was unhurried, fun, and infinitely chill.
What Happened?
It had been too long since we went outdoors with the Abshers and both of our afternoons were free. We met up at the Blossom Hill parking lot at 2:30 pm, got our bikes ready, and started cycling.
The ride was chill with very few others on the trail. With Annabelle setting the pace, we generally had Harmon and I accompanying Annabelle with Mike, Andi, and Kaylee bringing up the rear.
When we got to the trail closure sign, we did not want to take the detour, which would have had us share roads with cars, we pressed on until the flooded section. We turned back and rode back to the cars at about the same pace.
Overall, it was just a wonderful way to spend about two hours with dear friends and appreciate the wonderful trail so close to our homes.
