Downtown Morgan Hill Loop
Route Review
I have biked most parts of this ride over different rides, so there was nothing new for me, but it was still fun introducing Cassie to Coyote Creek Trail and downtown Morgan Hill.
What I Learned:
On the way back, I got overheated and biked super duper slow. I have to remember that it’s summer now—I need to do my activities very early in the day to avoid the heat.
What Happened?
We wanted to close out our active weekend with a cycling activity, so I proposed that we have lunch in Morgan Hill and that I’d take the scenic way as I knew a pretty trail that would be on the way.
We started from our apartment and headed off to Hellyer County Park where we would get on the Coyote Creek Trail. We biked around the lake a little bit, but didn’t want to stay so we started heading south. We found the trail to be beautiful and not that crowded, which was a surprise given how nice the day was and how green the trees were.
After about 10 miles, we stopped for a quick break on some picnic benches where we ate our packed apples and enjoyed the shade. We then soon entered Morgan Hill proper, where we took city streets to get to a Japanese restaurant that I had found.
Unfortunately, because it was a public holiday, the restaurant was closed, but we found a Vietnamese restaurant in the same shopping complex, so we ate there instead. The food was delicious and after a belly-filling hour, we biked back to our apartment by staying on Santa Teresa Blvd.
After my episode of overheating, we got back to the apartment, took a nice long shower, and spend the rest of the day enjoying yummy snacks and cold drinks.
