Downtown San Jose
Route Review:
I rode a balloon shaped loop via Cherry Ave, Curtner Ave, Almaden Ave, West Virginia St, 1st Street, Balbach St, Guadalupe River Trail, Delmas Ave, Willow St, Lincoln Ave, Minnesota Ave, Newport Ave, Cottle Ave, Dry Creek Road, and back to Cherry Ave.
Besides Guadalupe River Trail, the rest were city roads, all with a bike lane. The cars were very friendly today, giving me lots of berth, which I appreciated. I felt safe in all streets, except for Almaden Ave, where a pedestrian man yelled at me for no reason. I just ignored him and kept riding.
Guadalupe River Trail had countless homeless encampments, but no one bothered me as I rode on.
Downtown San Jose has lots of places to lock my bike, which is welcome. Though I didn’t need to use it, as I kept my bike in my climbing gym.

What Happened?
I was meeting up with Jerry and Sarah for climbing at The Studio climbing gym and given the sunny weather, decided to bike there instead of driving. The weather was just about perfect for cycling on the way to the gym, and a bit hot on the way back.
I was a little worried that I’d be fatigued from my hike yesterday, but probably because I’m using different muscles, I felt none of that—I felt strong on the bike.
