Abandoned Trains near Trona

Walk Review

• About a mile down the Pinnacles Road from Highway 178, there are abandoned train cars.

• There is a sign that states that this is private property and one should not trespass.

• The trains have not been moved in the past 4 years (at least), as I remember them in the exact same spot.

• There is a small, ad hoc defined parking area, but the whole place is deserted, so one could state that there are infinite parking spaces.

• There are no facilities at this location. The closest bathroom is at Trona Pinnacles, 3.5 miles away.

• People should be careful about climbing the train cars, as falling off of it could be fatal.

What I Learned

I am not 100% sure if I had climbed a train car before, but I definitely did on this day. It was really mind-blowing to think about stunt-people like Jackie Chan climbing and jumping around on a moving train. Or the train hoppers that would jump onto moving trains! So scary!

What Happened?

 

On our way to Trona Pinnacles, we stopped by these trains to explore and gain some new experiences. The trains were in good shape, and it was neat to walk around and take fun pictures.

On the way out, we also drove between the trains, which was another fun experience straight from the movies!
