Beaver Creek

Hike Review

  • The Beaver Creek Trail was a single track trail which bounced in and out of contact with Beaver Creek.

  • We first stopped by the second beach that we saw along the creek, but later moved on to another one down the trail as we got crowded by another family (and the beach we ended up going to had a picnic table directly on the beach that we could use).

  • There was no trash and no mosquitos! There were plenty of other bugs though none as bad as mosquitos.

  • The water was a nice cold temperature where most of us hung out for long stretches of time.

  • We were surprised at how few people were present, given how nice the creek was.

What I Learned

  • We cooled a watermelon in the water for 30 minutes, but it wasn’t as cold as we’d like. Next time, I’d like to sink it in the creek for a few hours to completely chill the watermelon. Still, it was pretty yummy.

Friends

Ben, Joyce, and Carson joined us and we had a great time eating too much watermelon, skipping rocks, and just throwing rocks around when we ran out of disk-shaped rocks. We found that Carson loves collecting rocks and Kaylee gave Carson a small box to keep the rocks. Carson’s favorite phrase soon became “put the rock in the box!”

What Happened?

We went down to the creek to have some fun. Everything kind of worked out as planned, since we got ourselves a private beach for a few hours, ate creek-cooled watermelon, and got to throw around lots of rocks. Most of our arms were sore (in a good way) by the end, and we headed back to our campsite when we got hungry for lunch.
