Lands End
Hike Review:
The single trail I walked with the girls was surprisingly clean—I assumed with the popularity of this trail that it would be dirtier.
The parking situation at the Legion of Honor Museum was also surprising! There was plenty of parking on a Sunday afternoon.
It was pretty cold getting down to the Coastal Trail, but once there, the trees protected us from the wind.
The trail was hard packed dirt, and easy on the feet.
Most of the trail was shaded, though, with the overcast weather, shade wasn’t necessary.
What Happened?
The girls and I had explored the Legion of Honor Museum and filled our bellies with amazing food at Kaiju Eats Ramen and Izakaya. Before returning home, we wanted to hike a little bit in SF, so we headed back to the museum’s parking lot to hike the northern half of the Lands End trail.
Because of the non-canon start to the trail, the start and the end of our hikes were along golf courses. And while I loathe them, it did provide entertainment as we watched the golfers swing and tried to track the golf balls.
As we got down to the trail itself, the wind died down, and we found it to be pleasant. It wasn’t too busy, the trail was nicely groomed, and the too-many-to-count viewpoints afforded us with beautiful sights. We even enjoyed the beautiful blooming red flowers, and the white sails that dotted the ocean.
After hitting the end of the Coastal Trail, we headed back to the car, and slowly set off for home.
