Yosemite NP - Crane Flat
We loved Crane Flat so much that we went back-to-back over two days. I wrote much about the first day here.
On Sunday, the snow was much sticker, which was awesome: our sled went faster, and snow stuck better (so we built a snow cat).
We went to the same part of the campground that we went to on the first day, but we were able to grab a longer, gentler run. I enjoyed the run lots, as the girls spent more time hanging around their castle (a snowed-in grove) and playing with the snow. Much like the first day, after about two hours or so, we went back to the car for sandwiches, and left.
What I Learned:
The port-a-potty at Crane Flat, although looking very old from the outside, was clean and not-smelly on the inside. The lack-of-smells has something to do with the temperature, I’m sure.
Hike Review:
The snow was much sticker on this day, so everything was more fun.
As previously stated: Crane Flat is a great snow park for youngsters. There aren’t any slopes that are very steep, so it would not be fun for older kids.
