Hume Lake
Lake Review
I used my packraft to have fun at the lake with my girls and friends.
Hume Lake’s waters was not too cold, which was a nice surprise given that the day temps were only at the high 60s.
There was a persistent wind that blew east to west, which kept blowing the packraft and pool floaties around. It wasn’t bad though, it just led to more laughs as we struggled to go in a single direction as a group.
There was one other boat launching from a dirt shore that was close to our campsite. There were dozens of other standup boards and kayaks in the lake, but it didn’t feel like there were too many people in the lake as only non-motorized watercraft were allowed.
The lake was a little murky, but clean of trash or glass bottles, etc.
Friends
The Saitos (Ryo, Seri, Luna, and Mona) and well as the Prives (Dave, Florence, Amelia, and Olivia) joined us. The Saitos and Prives both brought various donut floaties. We then tied a few of the floaties together or held on with hands as we struggled (to good fun) to keep the armada together and not drifting into the shores.
What Happened?
We knew that Saturday afternoon would be the warmest day of the camping trip, so after we got back from Cat Haven, we inflated our watercraft and got down to the lake.
The Prives had jumped into the lake first, so we joined them, gabbed about traffic and campsites, and shared lots of laughter. I think I had 1-3 extra people on my packraft at any given time, and it was lots of fun as people jumped in and out of the boat and try their hand at using the paddle.
After about an hour or two, it was time for dinner, so we headed back to the campsite where I started cooking dinner for everyone.
