Hope Valley
Camp Review:
I’ve stayed here a bunch of times. In fact, this is my most revisited campsite for a good reason. It’s super close to Tahoe and it doesn’t require reservations.
The bathrooms were very clean (no bugs!) and well stocked.
There were a dozen or so cars, but there were still lots of spaces between cars.
The place was very quiet. So much better than the recent campgrounds I camped at.
What Happened?
I arrived at 11:30pm. I was tired, so I hit the bathroom, washed up, brushed my teeth, and promptly feel asleep. In the morning, I got up about 30 minutes later than planned because it was just too cold. I thought I was just out of practice as the forecast had said that it’d be about 50 degrees. When I checked my car’s thermometer, it revealed that the temperature was actually 35 degrees! I also noticed frost on top of the car.
Unlike the previous times, I came back to this camp site the following day. Because I had completed all that I had wanted to sooner than planned, I arrived at the earliest time I’ve ever camped here—5PM! I got a prime spot and used the extra time to process photos, write, read, and cook. Oh, and eat the Cherry Garcia ice cream I had picked up on the way here. Louie joined me for the second night and they slept in my two person Nemo backpacking tent that they wanted to try out. It was a cold night, but they slept through it just fine.
