Los Alamitos Creek Trail
Route Review:
The neighborhood roads to get to Santa Teresa County Park were nice and paved--with no trash and lots of intermittent shade.
Santa Teresa County Park starts with a steep climb. It was challenging but the steep up limb only lasts for one mile. The rest of the park is a packed dirt trail with intermittent rocks. I was glad that I was riding a gravel bike as the bike did great over the rough surface.
The Alamitos Creek Trail was a mix of paved and packed dirt and though it got busy in a few parts, it was the prettiest part of my ride. There were a few parts on the trail where there were large water puddles, but they weee easy to navigate around.
What I Learned:
My front derailleur alignment was a little off and I thought I couldn’t switch to my lowest gear. However, at a break, I found that I could if I switched to my highest test gear. So I did and that made going uphill so much easier. Now that I know this tip, I can afford to ride a few more times before I get my derailleurs realigned.

What Happened?
I had a two hour gap in my meetings, so I decided to go for a bike ride. I wasn’t sure if I could handle the steep uphill of Santa Teresa County Park, but now I’m dreaming about how I could lengthen this ride in the future by going to the top of Coyote Peak.
I had a great time on my ride and reached my top moving average speed for the second ride in a row--12.2mph.
