Almaden Quicksilver - McAbee Creek Trail

_DSF0560-Enhanced.jpg

We had hiked the Senador Mine Trail a few weeks before this, and when we did, we spotted the McAbee Creek Trail and were curious about it.

We found the McAbee Creek Trail to be extremely cute and interesting trail that follows the McAbee Creek up to its source. It’s trails were narrow, but because we didn’t see a soul on this hike, we didn’t mind it at all. On the way down (after it meets up with the Senador Mine Trail again), we did spot some birds flying above, which the girls enjoyed seeing.

What I Learned:

  • Even though the McAbee Creek is so small I’d call it cute, there’s a wooden bridge to cross it—a very cute wooden bridge.

  • Last time we hiked the Senador Mine Trail, we saw a family go off trail to a vista point of sorts, so we walked to the same spot. It was a beautiful spot under an oak tree with lots of rocks.

Hike Review:

  • Almaden Quicksilver is a gem of a park. Just about every trail is well maintained, clean, and has beautiful views to boot. This trail was no exception.

  • There’s shade about a third of the time. I would imagine this trail would get really hot in the summer.

  • Senador Mine Trail is wide, where the McAbee Creek Trail is narrow.

  • I personally liked this trail so much, that I plan on coming back and hiking it again in the future.
