Hike Review:

  • This was one of the cleanest and nicest parks I’ve been to in the Bay Area.

  • The trails are wide and in great condition. The parking lot is large too!

  • The trail is fully shaded for the parts that we hiked (Alma Trail until #2 trail junction).

  • There are plenty of wildlife, even a doe who was a little too used to humans, though it made for great pictures.

What I Learned:

  • This place makes for a wonderful hike in the summer as the forest the trail winds through is heavy, and so, there is a ton of shade.

  • The trail we hiked on this day was uphill the whole way.

  • There was an abandoned structure on the side of the trail, which was fun to see.

What Happened?

I took the kids for a late afternoon hike here and found this place to be just wonderful for the summer. It was about 10 degrees cooler than where I live, and we also didn’t have to put on sunblock, given the canopy cover.

Although the hike was a little difficult for the kids, they had a great time, and I’ll definitely come back by myself so that I can reach Madrone Knoll.
