Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve
Hike Review:
I came here a few weeks ago around sunset but found the parking lot full. Because of that I had high hopes for this hike.
What I found was a smelly hike (there are a lot of cow dung on the ground, as well as a horse farm near by) which smelled like shit more than half the time.
The hike is also very dusty, with limited shade.
There are however, well placed benches throughout the trail.
What I Learned:
My goal for this hike was to maintain a steady speed. I was hoping for 3mph average by the end of the trail. By the end of the trail, I found out that I had hiked at 3.2mph, which I was very happy with.
The cost of a high hike speed was that the heels of my feet were burning near the end, but I think it’s something I just need to get used to.
What Happened?
I wanted to go for a short hike in the morning, so I headed off to Coyote Valley OSP. I had a good hike where I passed half a dozen people (and no one passed me for once) and kept up a good speed throughout the hike.
I don’t think I’ll be returning tot his park as there is only one trail in this preserve and I didn’t love the hike due to its smell.
