Hike Review:

  • This short hike was pleasant and easy.

  • The trail is shaded near Prospect Rd, but right as it meets Hayfield Trail, the trail becomes a fire road and has zero coverage. Trail itself is hard packed dirt and/or gravel.

  • The view from Hunters Point is pretty darn nice.

What I Learned:

  • Especially with the kids, I have to start hiking earlier than 10am. By 10, it was around 70 degrees, which was too warm for my girls.

We hiked from Prospect Road to Hunters Point, for an easy Sunday morning hike. The first part of the trail was really nice, as it was shaded, and there were remains of an old building near the trail. Once it got on to Hayfield Trail, however, the trail became wide, trees disappeared, and because of the lack of shade, it got hot.

We made our way up to Hunters Point, enjoyed the view for a few minutes, and headed back down. On the way down, we took Cora Older Trail, which turned out to be not as nice as Creekside Trail—the narrow trail was shared between hikers, bikers, and horse-riders. Had I known how narrow and busy this trail was, I would have just come back the way we came.
