Madea Creek Park

Hike Review

  • The park offers a fully paved trail that is easy to walk in the middle of a suburban neighborhood.

  • The trail was a double-width paved trail that was pretty clean in most parts.

  • Even with doggie bag dispensers strewn along the trail, there were plenty of dog poop just laying about.

  • There weren’t many people about even though it was a beautiful Sunday morning.

  • There are plenty of parking in neighborhoods that surround the park.

What Happened?

2.75 miles, 1 hr 2 mins, 262 ft of ascent

I was aching for nature after an urban-heavy day and Cassie suggested a hike, so I found Madea Creek Park. It was the only choice nearby with a paved trail (we didn’t have hiking shoes), so we headed off there after waking up.

The park was a welcome relief from the urban environment that is Los Angeles with songbirds serenading us as we walked. The people on the trail were friendly and we had a good time walking a few miles.

The most interesting part of the walk was probably a short tunnel section that was flooded with water. Thankfully the water was shallow and we were able to walk through it without getting our shoes and socks wet.

With our lungs full of fresh air, we headed back into LA to meet some wonderful people.
