Hike Review:
It was a windy, mostly-flat hike to Deer Hollow Farm and back.
The wind was blowing dust around throughout the entire hike, which made it not-very-pleasant.
There was less tree cover than I remembered. Almost the whole trail was mostly exposed.
Because it was a Monday afternoon, there were few other hikers.
What I Learned:
I tried out my new Bedrock Cairn sandals and they were good. It was comfy, but a little annoying as small rocks kept lodging themselves between my foot and the sandals. Still, much more comfortable than my Chaco Z/2 Classic. Less comfortable than my Chaco Flips though.
There was so much wildlife along the trail. We saw deer, turkeys, squirrels, vultures, crows, and lizards.
The interactive exhibits were still closed at Deer Hollow Farm due to COVID. Still, we saw chickens, goats (and kids), one hog, and one cow. The youngest loved the puns along the fence, such as “You goat this!”
What Happened?
We took a quick hike to Deer Hollow Farms and although it was windy, made the best of it. The girls loved all the animals (on the trail and the farm) that they saw. I found this trail to be a bit boring as it’s mostly flat.
The best part of the trail was probably the farm bypass trail we took to make a little loop at the end. A lot less fences and just good ol’ natural shrubs and trees lining the trail.
We spent maybe five minutes at the farm before heading back as there wasn’t much to do but look at the farm animals from the fence.
