Teutonia Peak
Hike Review:
The trail to the peak is short, but there were a few points where I lost the trail just to find it again.
The trail snakes through a burnt Joshua tree forest, and while it’s sobering, it’s also hauntingly beautiful.
There is zero shade, but since it’s almost winter, it didn’t affect me at all.
There was no trash and I found the trail clean.
There were a few parts of loose sand, but it was mostly hard packed dirt or granite rock.

What Happened?
I found myself driving through the Mojave Road faster than planned, so I decided on a whim to go hike a peak. I overheard the ranger telling someone else to hike Kessler Peak (across the road from Teutonia Peak) and that drew me to Teutonia, since it had an established trail.
I started the trail right after a late lunch and I hiked at a quick pace. I made good time to the end of the trail, but it led to a few granite boulders which I believe to be the actual peak of Teutonia. But since it would be a 20+ ft climb to the top and I didn’t have any climbing equipment, I decided to just turn back.
