Trillium Falls
Hike Review:
Trillium Falls Trail is a short hike to a small water fall, followed by a circuitous route back to the parking lot.
The trail was muddy in a few parts, but overall, it was well marked and well maintained.
There is a small amount of the trail that allows for a bike. The rest of the trail is limited only to hikers.
The trail winds through a dense forest, so there is shade almost 100% of the time.
What Happened?
Trillium Falls was stated as one of the points of interest in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, so I decided to stop by.
The trail is an easy one, with a small bit of elevation gain up to the waterfall. The waterfall comes into view less than a half mile on the trail and isn’t the most gorgeous thing I’ve seen, but I did appreciate that during the walk, I saw less than half dozen people on the trail.
The rest of the trail was still beautiful, and I enjoyed the sensation of waking up with the forest. I especially loved how the sunlight would make the water on the trees evaporate and create these small clouds of fog near trees.
Near the end of the trail, I did come across a fellow hiker who told me that she was speaking to the tree and that the tree had helped her find four leaf clovers in the past. I asked her if the tree told her its name, and she told me that it did not, but that she would ask.
I made my way back to the parking lot and started my long drive home.
