Jenkinson Lake

  • Aqua Xtreme X2 Packraft—It was so cool to blow up the packraft and just carry the 6 lbs packraft down to the lake. I didn’t have to fret about blowing up the packraft next to the water with all the pointy rocks.

Lake Review:

  • Lake Jenkinson has a prominent finger, which is where we were. The speed limit is 5mph on the finger of the lake, which makes it an awesome environment for kayaking.

  • There was no wind, and the lake was very calm for the 24 hours we were there.

  • We were on the lake for less than 1/2 a mile because my eldest got motion sickness.

  • There was no boat launch at the beach we hiked to, but it was easy getting in and out of the boat.

What I Learned:

  • I think before every boating session, I should give Dramamine to my eldest so that she doesn’t get motion sickness.

  • I no longer struggle with moving the packraft in a straight line. I kind of got used to the no-skeg life with this boat.

What Happened?

.29 miles, 34 min, no wind

.29 miles, 34 min, no wind

We got to the lake for a morning paddle session, but my eldest got motion sickness after I paddled to the opposite side of the lake. After a few minutes of sitting and waiting on the shore, she wasn’t feeling much better, so we paddled back to the starting point and hiked back up to the campsite.
