Inyo Dispersed Camping

Camp Review:

  • I camped in a defined dispersed camping spot near the Grandview Campground in the Inyo National Forest.

  • The site was made level with leveling blocks.

  • There were a few flies and no mosquitos.

  • The site was quiet throughout the night.

What Happened?

I was planning on hiking White Mountain the next day, so I wanted to find a campsite close by to the trailhead. I actually arrived at Grandview Campground and paid the recommended donation of $10, but I was unable to find a spot, as the campground was full.

So, I drove a quarter mile up the road and found this dispersed site. Unlike most nights when I arrive at camp with the sunsetting, I found myself with some time on my hands, so I used it to my benefit to attend to a few camp chores. I washed my clothes, showered, and cooked myself a small dinner (I had a late lunch at 4pm). I then went to sleep a bit early, as I was tired from the hike earlier in the day and had another long hike the day after.
