Mobius Arch

Mobius Arch was the second thing I sought out when I got to Alabama Hills. The parking lot was quite full, and so was the trail. I got stuck between two families hiking to the Arch, and when I got there, I had about 30 seconds of time before the families crashed in behind me. I could have waited them out, but I didn’t find the arches to be as life-altering as I thought they would be, so I just left.

What I Learned:

  • The various arches seem so cool when I see them on social media, but as I got there, I found it to be a “meh” experience. Maybe I’m not cut out for being an arch photographer.

  • On my mapping tool, this place is named Lathe Arch. Perhaps the arch was renamed?

Hike Review:

  • The route is clearly marked for the most part, but there are still parts of the trail where it’s easy to get lost.

  • It was quite busy, so I couldn’t spend too much time at the arch.

  • There’s no shade, so much like Shark’s Fin, it’s hot and dry the whole way through.
